Oxbow was started in 1985 in Pont-Audemer, France. It is an internationally known brand in the world of boardsports and cover sports like surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, snowboarding, and skiing. Oxbow was responsible for restarting the World Longboard Championship in 1992. It also known as a sponsor of surfer Laird Hamilton and windsurfer Jason Polakow. In 2005 Oxbow became an affiliate of the French group Lafuma.
