SCUBAPRO first appeared in the scuba diving world in the early 1960’s. The main force behind Scubapro were Gustav Dalla Valle and Dick Bonin. They started producing all the equipment a diver needs, including regulators, recompression chambers, and submarines. They are responsible for quite a few innovations. For instance – Jet fin is one of the most copied scuba products ever sold. Also a part of Scubapro is UWATEC which was founded in 1983 in Hallwil, Switzerland. In 1987 they introduced their first dive computer called the Aladin PRO which was and instant hit and UWATEC became a synonym for diving computers. Today, SCUBAPRO employs over 400 people of which 50% are divers and of course they also produce Scubapro wetsuits! Both SCUBAPRO and UWATEC are a part of Johnson Outdoors Inc. company.
