Hotline wetsuits were founded in 1979 as a result of a friendship between a surfer from California (Brenda Scott) and a surfer from Japan (Hiro Iida). Brenda’s dad invited two Japanese visiting surfers to stay at his home when they asked him about places to stay in the neighbourhood. This is how Brenda and Hiro became friends and started Hotline wetsuits together. At that time Brenda was a successful competitor in the International Surfing Professionals (ISP) World Tour and a standout big wave surfer which helped propel Hotline wetsuits in kick-started their business.
