Ocean Pacific Wetsuits

Ocean Pacific logo imageOcean Pacific wetsuits are made by Ocean Pacific Apparel Corp which is also very well known as OP. OP was started back in 1960s by John smith and at first it was a surfboard manufacturer. In 1972 OP started a clothing line for swimmers and surfers and it was a hit. Today OP is based in Irvine, California, USA and makes primarily surfrelated apparel, swimwear, footwear, cologne and perfume fragrances, and accessories.

The brand itself has quite a colorful history. Founder John Smith designed the original trademark and label for his surfboards. Fred Ryan then purchased his surf shop together with OP label. Ocean Pacific label was later sold to Don Hansen. In 1972 Don Hansen gave the label to Jim Jenks who started the clothing line. Ocean Pacific brand experienced financial trouble through the 1990s but a few years ago (2008) they celebrated their 35 year anniversary. OP is also the brand that sponsored more world surfing champions than any other brand, including Tom Curren and Kelly Slater.
