Quintana Roo was founded by one of the triathlon pioneers Dan Empfield in 1981. When he competed in the first Ironman on Hawaii’s Big Island he felt that something was missing – the equipment to go along with the needs of the triathlon athletes. So he started a company named after one of his favorite places on the planet, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Quintana Roo started designing and producing wetsuit designed specifically for triathletes. Apart from wetsuits Quintana Roo also made a revolutionary triathlon bike.
